SHEHZAD HUSAIN AND JENNY LINFORD: 'FOOD: FROM SOURCE TO SALESPOINT' (2000)
Food has, for many years, been the acceptable face of British diversity. Many people have argued that the vast array of cuisines available in the UK is testament to Britain's embrace of a wide range of different cultures. It is interesting, then, that in the first clip, Shehzad Husain describes a significant difference between the recipes she developed for the customers of Marks and Spencer (predominantly white British) and those she and her family ate at home. Similarly, Jenny Linford reflects on the changes that have been made to Chinese food served in Chinatown, London during her lifetime.
These examples challenge us to question how diverse the foods that Britain has absorbed into its mainstream really are.
